Vero Beach is more than just a Beach town. It’s a town with all kinds of things going on every week. Don’t let our beautiful beaches distract you from  celebrating Halloween. We may not have the cold weather but we have the Halloween Spirit. There are pumpkin patches, haunted houses, fall festivals, parades, costume contests and trick or treat events galore throughout Vero Beach. Grab family members or friends and enjoy some of the fun.

59th Annual Halloween Parade & Costume Contest: The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department. 9:30 a.m. Oct. 28. Line up begins at 9:30 a.m. Vero Beach Women’s Club Parking Lot, 1534 21st St., Vero Beach. Parade starts 10 a.m. walking to the Vero Beach Community Center. Prizes for best costume for newborn through age 17. All ages are welcome to dress up, all children (with or with-out) a costume that come to the Community Center receive a free goody bag. 

Halloween Costume Party: Music by the Coolers. Prizes for best costume. 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28. The Vero Beach Elks Lodge, 1350 26th St., Vero Beach. $10 cover charge. 772-562-8450.

Halloween Costume Skating: Halloween is filled with more treats than tricks this year at Skate Factory. Oct. 27 is the all night skate night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The $17.50 admission cost includes glow skate, costume contest, candy scramble, dance contest and races. Evening-only skating from is also available for $8.50. Skate rental is $3, if needed. 1-4 p.m. Oct. 28, it’s treat-or-treat costume skate with candy scramble from with the regular admission price of $6.50. Indian River Mall: Store-to-store trick-or-treating 5 to 7 p.m., Oct. 31 for Mall-O-Ween. The mall is at 6200 20th St., Vero Beach. For more info, call the mall management office at 772-770-9404.

LaPorte Farms Fall Festival: Family fun, pony rides, hay rides, games, face painting, mechanical bull, good food, critters to see are just a few things. Noon-4 p.m. Oct. 28. LaPorte Farms, 7700 129th St., Roseland. $1 donation.

“Orchestral Spooktacular” Fall Concert: Whether you’re a princess or a pirate, a fairy or a firefighter, this fun, family friendly event invites all the little ghosts and goblins to enjoy eerie tunes and chilling melodies. Vero Beach High School Orchestra Department and Gifford Middle School Advanced Orchestra.  7 p.m.  Oct. 26. Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street, Vero Beach. $15 for orchestra level and $10 for mezzanine level tickets. Children 12 and under who attend dressed in costume gain free admittance.

Route 60 Genesis Wheels & Squeals Costume Party: It’s a Halloween Party that’s sure to be a fright, come dressed as your best, you can come for the night or come for a flash. Mirror Mirror on the wall who’s the scariest of them all?  The luckiest winner, we will see  It’s a costume contest, enter to be a nominee!
